Offshore Wind

We have designed, built and installed bespoke pontoons access systems for the operators of offshore wind support vessels.

So far we have completed 9 operation and maintenance pontoons for the offshore wind industry, working for utilities and Harbour Authorities in designing, building and installing systems.

Two of these installations have included ‘strut brows’ which reduce anchoring costs and enable the heavy-duty pontoon system to be attached direct to the quay without the requirement for driven piles.  Each 20 metre x 6 metre pontoon can berth 4 vessels at the same time therefore making best use of any available quay space and ensuring that the twelve service personnel and their equipment can board the vessel quickly and safely.

The freeboard of these vessels is 2.5 metres so a galvanised raised steel platform is bolted to the heavy concrete deck.  Rubber energy absorbing fenders are concealed within the brow bearings top and bottom to accept any accidental collision berthing of the vessels.

Another example is the recently completed London Array project, which had an extensive fuel system, pump out facilities and a mounted crane.
